My Training Philosophy

My training philosophy centers around two ideas: hard work and commitment. Without these ideas, someone's goals and aspirations can not be achieved.

Training Principles

My training principles and guidelines are health science based and have years of success and proof behind them. The main principles that I follow are: specificity and variability. Without these two concepts, goals may not get accomplished. Without specific training components, then my clients wants and goals may not get met. Without variability, my clients may get bored with the training and their bodies may become accustomed to the same old training and the client will not see the results that they want to see.

Standards for my clients and myself

I have two standards that I set for myself and my clients: hard work and communication. I want my clients to push themselves and work hard during training, which will drive musculoskeletal and neural adaptations, leading to results. I also want and talk with my clients often about communication. Communicating with me during training sessions allows me to gage whether or not my client is engaged in the sessions and if they are happy with the exercise selections that I have made. These same concepts apply to myself as well. If I am working hard on my clients programs and assessing their needs, then I am giving my clients the best chance to be successful and see the results that they want to see. Also, if I am communicating with my clients both during and around their session times, then I am able to make sure that my clients are happy with everything that I am doing with them and if I need to make changes or adjustments to their program.

Training Methodology

Methods: The method of training that I firmly believe in is resistance training. Resistance training has many benefits including: increased muscle mass, increased bone strength, and resistance training improves cardiovascular performance. By combining both multi-joint and single-joint exercises, along with a wide range of movements, resistance training can be very impactful for clients. Variability with training and types of exercises is also a key piece for a successful program. I also implement free weights and barbell work as the main forms of resistance equipment used in my programs. I believe in linear periodization as a very effective form of periodization that can be used with any of my clients or athletes because it is simple and can be progressed easily.
